7th Annual Piedmont School Maker Faire – Sunday, April 5 11-3pm at Beach Elementary School – FREE tickets.
Piedmont Makers is proud to join the Piedmont Arts Fund in presenting this year’s School Maker Faire celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math & Music education in Piedmont. We will feature over 100 S.T.E.A.M. projects from Beach, Havens, Wildwood, Piedmont Middle School, Millennium High School, and Piedmont High School students along with hands-on projects from community makers, live music from student musicians & bands, student art, and food trucks!
Call for Makers! Calling all students & community! Submit your project for the Piedmont School Maker Faire. It can be a school project or your own project. Piedmont K-12 students and community welcome!
Earthquake! Tech Social – February 28 6:30pm – Ellen Driscoll Playhouse - Piedmont resident Marco Scanu and Forell/Elsesser Principal will present at our next Tech Social. Forell is a leading structural engineering firm with a portfolio of many Bay Area projects including seismic retrofitting. Learn how we make buildings ready for the next Big One! Makey Breaky! Makerspace March 8 10a-12p – PMS Rm. 125.
What’s inside that box, or that bowling ball? Let’s find out. We’ll have various equipment and items to take apart, as well as a product engineer to tell us what things are made of (and what not to saw). We’ll have screwdrivers, saws, and the odd hammer. Feel free to bring your own items to disassemble and we’ll recycle it all afterwards if need be. See you there! Buy your tickets here.
Piedmont Robotics Open House – Monday, March 2 7pm – PHS Student Center – K-8 students & parents are welcome to come learn more about our FIRST Robotics programs: FIRST LEGO League Jr. for rising K-3 students, FIRST LEGO League for rising grade 4-8 students, and FIRST Tech Challenge for rising grade 7 and up. Support Fund Education Now Week! From PEF -
Wednesday 2/5 (Parents and Community): Social Media campaign on the importance of education and why schools need more funding (we will ask people to post on their social media, but also email our state representatives — there will be templates…) We will also have a table outside of Mulberry’s to promote a Schools & Communities First ballot initiative.
Thursday 2/6 (Everyone) : Wear Red for Ed! And come to our rally at the Community Center. The rally will be after school from 3:30-4:30pm — we’ll have music, snacks, speakers, a video, etc… and we want everyone wearing red — teachers, staff, students, parents and community members!
Friday 2/7 (Everyone): The Fund Public Education Now team will bring all of the posters, artwork and letters to Buffy Wicks and Nancy Skinner’s offices in Oakland and tell them we want change!
