Saturday, December 1, 1:00p – 3:30p: Introduction to Power Tools.
Saws and drills and drivers, oh my! Power tools are amazing! They can make quick work of tough tasks and help us do what we couldn’t do with just hand tools. But they can also be intimidating and need to be used safely. Join us for an introduction to power tools to learn safe operation and get hands-on experience with a variety of tools that cut, drill and drive!
For kids 5-10 years old accompanied by an adult.

Sunday, December 9, 1:30p: FTC Tournament
Scotbotics and the Piedmont Makers are hosting the first robotics tournament in Piedmont on 12/9 in the Morrison gym. A robotics tournament is a cross between a sporting event and a Nascar race, fast-paced and exciting. The best time to watch the robots in action is from 1:30 until 5pm after all the robot inspections and team interviews are completed.

Piedmont School Maker Faire: tentative date, May 5th
Though it seems far away, now is a good time to start thinking about a project for Piedmont’s own School Maker Faire!  Is there a thing you’ve been wanting to create?  A special project you’ve been tinkering at that is ready to share with the world?  Do you have a couple of friends who might like to work with you?  We encourage projects from student and adult makers alike!

Congratulations to Piedmont’s FIRST Robotics Teams!
All 12 of Piedmont’s FIRST Lego Robotics teams have competed at their qualifying tournaments.  For most, this was the end of a wonderful season.  Good luck to the teams competing at the East Bay Regional Championship at UC Berkeley on January 19th!
